For many years, the art department had fun creating colorful floats for the annual Roswell Youth Day Parade. We are now proud to honor Ms. Caroline Henderson, Float Chairperson for the Grand Marshall's Award (2015) and Mayor's Choices Award (2016)!!
If you are interested in volunteering for the float committee, please contact the school and join our award winning team. It is tons of fun, and you will make memories to last a lifetime!

Radial Weaving
Radial Weaving with 4th grade. I love this lesson and so do my students! We learned about color schemes and radial symmetry.
5th grade legacy gift: Artist in REsidence Jeff Mather
On a beautiful spring morning in May 2013, 5th graders dedicated their legacy sculpture to the school. Under the direction of master teaching artist and artist-in-residence, Jeff Mather, students created a colorful sculpture and aptly named it The Diamond Labyrinth. Students played Orff instruments, recalled moments of learning and fun, and cut the ribbon while dignitaries from Fulton County Schools looked on. We are so proud of our 2013 SAE graduates and thank SAE PTO, SAE Art Dept, parents and parent volunteers and Young Audiences for making this project possible.
Ready to cut the ribbon

STudents display art at 2013 YAM exhibit
Three students from SAE had art exhibited at the Fulton County Schools Youth Art Month exhibit in March. Youth Art Month highlights the importance of visual arts across our nation. The annual Fulton County YAM exhibit was viewed by FCBOE employees and board members, then the artworks were displayed at our school. Way to go, YAM artists!
Rag Weaving
1st graders completed weaving projects using recycled materials such as old fabric and mat board. Students started by creating their own looms and attaching warp threads. Then, they learned to weave over and under as they added their weft pieces.
Honors for awesome artists
Chelsea K and Jordyn K were honored by PS Aeropostale for their entries in the T-shirt contest. Both students received top honors for their age category out of thousands of entries in this national competition. Participation in contests at SAE is totally voluntary (not sanctioned by the art department), and these two students certainly rose to the occasion!
